What Customers Say About Magellan Maestro 3250 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator with Traffic and Voice Command:

I could type in a place's name and it could find it quickly, or I could look under categories. The charging port got disconnected, so it wouldn't charge, and when it did have some battery life left when it was plugged in to charge it would say 'USB connected' and would not work at all. I got this GPS as a graduation present, it started shutting down within a year. I like how it could list the types of restaurants, including more exotic foreign cuisines. However, I loved it while it lasted and I will buy another Magellan in the future. Magellan is superior to TomTom as far as ease-of-use and finding places. I was never frustrated with Magellan, it doesn't have hidden buttons, there is a menu button to go back to the main menu. You can adjust the volume from the map screen and It is easy to glance at and understand while driving.

I got this model for some it's features like the traffic and AAA tourbook information. I didn't think the traffic feature was all that great. The POI feature was also lacking. This model wants you to enter the street name before the street number. I could be sitting in front of a Target and it would direct me to one 5 miles away. Often, I would enter "Main Street" and would then get two or more options that I would then have to choose from such as "Main Street NE" and "Main Street SE." This would happen when the address I was trying to get to did not list a NE or SE so I didn't know which one to choose. While it's not a bad model overall, I had one major difficulty. Sometimes it worked fine and other times I'd be sitting in a traffic jam and it said there were no traffic incidents in the area.

I could go onto Google Maps or Mapquest and type in "100 Main Street" and get directions with no problem, but the GPS would not let me simply enter "100 Main Street." I live in Atlanta and the roads here are not based on a grid system as in some cities where "100 Main Street NE" and "100 Main Stree NW" would be two different locations. I have since switched to using a Garmin model and haven't had this problem since you can enter a street number before the street name. I could ask it to find, say, the nearest Target to me. I have yet to see how the Garmin's traffic and POI features are so I can't say whether this problem is exclusive to Magellan.

Very rarely it acts properly on voice command. Same thing happened when we came back to CA.

Only con though, I would say it takes time to understand the region change. This thing kept most of the the promises that it made in its product catalog.

We had to enter the new address 4 to 5 times. We live in CA and went to FL.

It took long time to understand where we were and returned the results really late. Another con, though it says it takes voice commands, but this feature is pretty messed up.

Other than these I would say this is pretty nice with features like speaks the directions and Bluetooth some of the things we were looking for.

I did take advantage of Magellans offer to update the installed maps. The screen is bright and clear even in the bright sun. Within minutes I was at ther front door. They have handled all my questions quickly and professionally including the updating of my maps. Due to an emergency the other night I had to go to to a new neigborhood and street that I did not know. All I had to do was turn the unit on, input the new address and go. Super easy to use and excellent maps. I have had no issues with customer service and have found them very responsive even though it appears that I may have been speaking to service agents off shore.

This is a great GPS that offers all that you may need. As to what I have read about poor or no customer service I do not agree. If this unit does not have it, you probably do not need it. The sound is good and the unit names the streets clearly. The maps were great before I did and excellent and totally up to date since I did. There is a $10.00 charge for the current update when you purchase a new unit but well worth it.

Again a new neighborhood and street and my 3250 brought me right to it. This is not my first GPS but it is by far my best. The POI of interest are plentifull and current. I have not tried the traffic servce yet and probably will not.

I was able to get update map, very good customer service, web sit can be improved.
